Same Day Crowns
It used to be when you needed a dental crown it required two trips to the dentist. At the first visit, your dentist would plan for the permanent crown and provide you with a temporary restoration to use while you waited. The crown itself was crafted at a lab off-site, requiring you to come back for a second visit to have the permanent crown fitted. Now, thanks to modern technology you can get a crown on the same day.
Dr. Roper now offers these same day crowns using CAD-CAM technology, which is just an acronym for computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing. First, it uses a sophisticated software program to scan your bite and design your crown. Then, the machine mills the crown right on the spot according to the software’s specifications.
Advantages of CEREC Same-Day Crowns
- Time-saver: No one wants to spend all their time at the dentist's office. Getting your crown the same day means you will only need one, not two, appointments.
-
Accuracy: Because it is designed and milled by a computer, the results are more precise which in turn gives you a better fitting crown.
- Metal-Free: The materials used are metal-free meaning patients with metal sensitivities do not have to worry about their crown.
