The treatment will take just over an hour and you will notice dramatic differences right away. In most cases, teeth get even whiter the first few days after the procedure. On average, teeth are lighted six to ten shades, sometimes even more.
The tray method is another option, and is also recommended for maintenance after Zoom! procedures. Dr. Guffey, Dr. McLaws, and Dr. Roper will make custom trays for your teeth and give you carbamide peroxide gel to take home. You will place the gel in the trays and wear them for about 3 hours daily, or you can choose to wear them overnight. You should see significant results about in 3-4 weeks. The tray method is also recommended for badly stained teeth, such as those stained by tetracycline, but it may take several months to see significant whitening.
Whether you choose to use trays at home or the Zoom! procedure, the results will be about the same. The advantage of Zoom! is its speed; the tray method’s advantage is cost—50% less than Zoom!
We do not recommend that you use over-the-counter bleaching agents that are available at drug stores and pharmacies as these products can harm the gums and teeth.
